HISTORIC BLACKSMITH CONSERVANCY
Promoting excellence in traditional blacksmithing through education and preservation
Our Mission & Vision

MISSION
The mission of the Historic Blacksmith Conservancy is to promote excellence in traditional blacksmithing in the United States. The Conservancy is a repository for works, materials, and tooling of present and past masters. From these historic examples we derive educational programming aimed at blacksmiths, metalworkers, architects, designers, the building trades, and the general public. Our goal is to promote the appreciation of design and craftsmanship, while training the next generation of smiths to build on our inherited legacy.

VISION
The Historic Blacksmith Conservancy will develop and implement programming to promote traditional blacksmithing to the general public, metalworkers, and the building trades in line with our mission. The HBC will establish educational programming to train intermediate level smiths in advanced techniques required to execute master level works.
In order to achieve these aims, the HBC will establish a collection of historic tooling and samples which will become the basis for advanced study in traditional blacksmithing in America. Ultimately, the HBC seeks to establish a learning center for the technical and scholastic study of traditional blacksmithing where visitors can engage with the collection through public programs and hands-on workshops in support of our mission.
